Ladew Topiary Gardens – May 18, 2013

The weather report the night before the Model A Club Ladew Topiary Gardens Tour was ominous. There was a 50% chance of rain all day with cool and cloudy conditions. I thought for sure it was going to be another washout! However, the phone only rang once, and it was Harvey Hack calling to find out when and where we were meeting. He seemed undaunted by the weather report. With just clouds in the sky and some weak sun we headed to Sears in Hunt Valley. We toured the Ladew home and gardens. It truly defies description, and only a visit in person could do it justice! Clouds were thickening by 2 p.m. and everyone was anxious to beat the rain. Alas, weid not make it home dry. It finally rained when we got to Gamber and continued raining all the way to Sykesville. After that the ride to Clarksville was dry. Don’t know how wet the other drivers got, but all agreed the trip to Ladew Gardens was a good one.
