South Mountain Creamery – August 15, 2015

Photos by Chris Millirons and Steve Meyer

It was a small group, just seven people in four Model A’s and one modern, but big on fun when we toured to South Mountain Creamery in Middletown, Maryland on August 15.

Butch Cornes, Milt Hartig, Steve Meyer, and Chris & I drove Model A’s while Mike & Mary Grear drove modern; Mike’s coupe was without its engine and he didn’t want to tempt fate in his Model A truck prior to the next weekend’s Gettysburg trip.

The weather was great, sunny and hot but not humid, as we departed Lis bon on a circuitous but enjoyable mostly rural route to Middletown.

With most of the trip still ahead of us, Butch’s car suddenly quit running while negotiating a turn, but luckily he was able to coast into a pull-off area in front of a nearby church. We were quickly back on the road after the culprit was found to be just a broken coil wire. The next item of concern was our car, Hannah, struggling up the two biggest hills of the trip.
Thankfully she made it to the top of both and the group continued to chug along.
