Lunch At The Butterburg Inn – July 21, 2013

Text by Steve Meyer

Jon Miller and I arrived late, but safe, at the Rt. 32 and 97 park and ride south of Westminster on Sunday, July 21st.  The rest of the Model A gang were patiently waiting and getting their appetites ready.  The group included Ken and Vickie Miller, Jack and Carolyn Burke, Butch Cornes, Mike Grear,  Rick Heyer and Valerie.  After very brief hellos we headed out cross country in our Model A’s (even Jack Burke) with Butch in the lead.

After the short ride to Union Bridge we parked along the street and had a wonderful lunch at the Butterburg Inn.

After lunch it was time to regroup, collect the cars, and park them at the Western Maryland Railroad Museum.  The museum was chock full of interesting railroad memorabilia from an era long ago.  After spending a couple of hours at the museum we decided to head home as the clouds were darkening overhead.  We took some great pictures of the Model A’s in front of the railroad station and then headed back home with Butch again in the lead.  We traveled some great back country Carroll County roads until we eventually reached Rt. 26.  Once on Rt. 26 our group trip was officially over and everyone headed home!  This time we were able to make it with no breakdowns or overheating!
