CCBC Transportation Technology Building Dedication – Oct. 16, 2013

October 16 was cool and overcast, a good morning forJon Miller, Dave Sturges, and Don Keller to drive their cars to the dedication of the new Trans-portation Technology building at the Catonsville campus of CCBC. By 10:00 a.m. over 100 people had arrived—students, teachers, administrative staff, the dean, and the college president, as well as county officials. The A’s were parked in front of the new building for all to see and many stopped to look and ask questions. There were lots of smiles and expressions of thanks. Some of the students stayed to chat. Some had heard about carburetors, points, and condensers but hadn’t actually seen them. Jon, Dave, and Don engaged them all until the call for the ceremony to begin. Speeches by the president were followed by others extolling the automotive program, links with industry, and support especially from Ford, GM, and Toyota, and the availability of jobs. One speaker indicated that the Catonsville automotive program was ranked in the top ten nationwide. Quite impressive! Following the ribbon cutting, gifts from the GBMAFC were presented to Tony Prescott and Jim DeAngelis who thanked us and welcomed our club to meet in the new building beginning in January 2014.
