Antietam National Battlefield – May 25, 2013

The morning started out with clear skies. There were a few puffy white clouds floating by with the cool breeze. The drive to the Park & Ride in Lisbon was very nice and uneventful for us. There the group gathered. There were Steve & Sue Meyer, Ron Fayer, Ken Phebus, Bud Carroll, Harvey & Laura Hack, Butch Cornes and his daughter, Kim, and Ken & Nancy Godfrey.

Seven Model As started down Rt. 144 at a breakneck speed of 44 MPH towards Frederick. What a ride it was, too, lots of windshield time. Everyone had a smile on their face. We stopped at the Point of Rocks railroad station, but we didn’t stay long. We used it as a  turnaround to get to a small store that we used as a pit stop.

After that, we continued down the open road, staying on the less traveled roads  enjoying the rolling hills and scenic views all the way to Antietam’s Visitor Center.

The photos were taken at the Antietem National Battlefield and show the cannons outside the visitor center, the group having lunch (picnic) near their cars, the park rangers, the our and some of our group listening to the ranger, the famous bridge where one of the worst of the battles took place, and the parking area near the bridge with uncut grass.
